Divine Consciousness | The Gnostic Secret

About this film or conversation

Does the brain create consciousness, or does it receive it?

Materialism says the mind is only chemistry. Neurons firing, nothing more. But it can't explain the one thing that matters most: why there's something it feels like to be you at all. That's the hard problem of consciousness, and a century of research hasn't solved it.

In this one, we look at what materialism leaves out. Near-death experiences. The old idea of the brain as a filter, a "reducing valve" that narrows a wider awareness down to what a body can carry. The point where quantum physics stops giving clean answers. And what the Gnostics said long before any of it: that the real self is a spark of something divine, and it doesn't begin in the body. Is your awareness something the brain produces, or something it tunes into?
